Community Service

My eyes have been opened up a little bit wider when someone spoke on Sunday about community service. I believe I have been so caught up with my own messes that I did not see what was going on around me!

I first want to start off by saying that I am riding in a bike race on October 17th for the Tour de Pink. I am riding 40 miles to help raise money for breast cancer. I believe this is such a good cause...especially for women. There are many women that do not get their breast checked out, there is not enough awareness out there to help women, and there are many women that can not afford the treatments. This will hopefully change things. Raising this money has already had a huge affect in my life and I have not rode in the bike race yet. I have realized that every time I have received a donation I sit there in my chair crying. I have had some women in my life that are survivors, that are battling this disease and I just want to say thank you....thank you for your strength and courage to fight on!

I got a message from someone who is currently fighting breast cancer thanking me for helping her and the community. What a huge impact that has had on me. So if you would like to help me fight an amazing cause, please check out my donation site. I know money is tight with everyone, but even a dollar helps me get closer to my goal. (Which is $500...I would love to get $1000). If you can't, please send this to your friends and see if they could help. Every penny counts. Look below for the site:

Second...I am really excited to go help the kids in Lawrenceville/Grayson area. Me and Dave are going to help tutor kids (that barely know English) and basically help adopt this community and give things that they need. I am sure I will be sending emails out for that too....so keep a look out! Please keep us in your prayers and the communities in your prayers. If you would like to help out in anything please let me know also! We are going to tutor every Thursday and we will have a fall festival for all the kids as well.

I will keep everyone updated on our journeys. This is a very exciting time for me and David right now. Thanks for all the prayers that we have received!

Breast Cancer....Visit my site to Donate!

To Whom it May Concern:

In Metro Atlanta alone, almost 500 young women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. The Young Survival Coalition (YSC) is the premier international organization dedicated increasing the quality and quantity of life for young women with breast cancer. YSC Atlanta is one of the oldest and largest affiliates serving 11 counties in the metro area. The funds raised by the Tour de Pink will help them focus on education and outreach opportunities and provide peer-to-peer support for newly diagnosed young women.

Young Survival Coalition’s Tour de Pink is more than an event with cyclists. It’s a chance to honor survivors, raise awareness in the community and support important local programs for young women with breast cancer.

I have committed to raising $100 to participate in this ride, but I’ve set a personal goal of raising $500. I’m asking you to make a commitment too. Please consider making a fully tax-deductible donation to help me achieve this goal. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me, by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.

I will ride to support my friends and so many others who have battled this disease. I am riding in their honor.

Thanks in advance!

This past week

What a crazy week it has been! I must say that I am still extremely tired from all of the activities going on! Early in the week we went to the Gwinnett Braves game! It was my first game there and David's second or third. We had a great time, but it was sooooo HOT! Tyler fell asleep on me so I decided I had to leave early because I was sweating and Tyler was sweating on me!

On Saturday Morning me and Tybo went to Lake Lanier with my parents. It was a very nice and peaceful day at the lake. We needed it too because later that night Dave had 11 of his baseball players spend the night. They stayed up til 5am! I cant remember the last time I stayed up that late!

Our new desk!

Me and Dave have been living in a cave the past year and a half and have not had the internet. Things are looking up people!!! We are getting the internet this Saturday, which means our blog will be updated more often. We wanted a little desk for our living room so we can hang out more with each other since all we do is live in the living room and kitchen. I went looking for desks today, thinking I would not find anything, and this beautiful desk started calling my name in Real Deals.

Let me give you a quick run down. In our living room and kitchen we have a lot of black in decor and furniture. Our fireplace is black. Dave said it would be a wise choice to get a black desk. I, on the other hand, did not want a black desk. I also had specific measurements. The desk could only be 3 1/2 feet in length...didn't matter in height or width.

So I was walking around in Real Deals and saw this great desk. It wasn't fully black and it was on the dot with the measurements. Plus it matched my kitchen table! It didn't take me long to find a store employee to tell them that piece of furniture was sold...to me! As I was picking up the desk, the employee that I talked to earlier, told me there was some other chick wanting that same desk and was trying to bargain with her. I was even more stoked that I bought the desk before that other chick! Plus, the desk was on sale and I got $100 off from the original price!!!

The moral of the story....God has my back...everytime!

Quick Pic

My mom sent me this picture of Tyler sitting on their newly painted "beach" chairs! I wish I was not stuck at work! And I definitely wish I was with them relaxing outside!

P.S. We will finally have the internet at our house Saturday!! I will make sure the blog is more up to date....PROMISE!
